Our client is a well-established business based in the Filey area who are currently looking to recruit for a new Financial Controller due to continued growth.
Reporting to the CEO, you would be the number one finance person within the business, managing the whole finance function for a small group of companies as well as looking at future growth opportunities.
You could be managing and overseeing all of the finance team, operations, HR and site management, training and developing a small team both on site and remotely at other offices within the UK and internationally. You would be responsible for monitoring all costs and forecasts as well as advising the senior management team on recommended actions, production of monthly management accounts for all companies within the group as well as producing regular monthly reports; analysing the data to look at product pricing, profitability, the financial aspects within project management and contract tenders to name a few.
You may also need to review all processes, controls and procedures to look at ways of developing / improving these to help the business run more efficiently as it grows, as well as looking at possibly integrating a new accounting software package. As the business trades internationally, you would be dealing with import and export issues, customs and excise as well as working with foreign currency (Sterling, Dollar and Euro) and international Tax.
The business has an R&D team and part of this role would be to look into research grants and support them with applying for these as well as working with the IT team with the financial implications of updating software and monitoring all the spend, budgets and forecasts for each project the company undertakes.
That’s why we are looking for someone who wants to work within a small business and really make a difference, preferably coming from a Manufacturing, Engineering or Distribution background. A Financial Controller who has strong excel reporting experience with previous experience of using Sage. Someone who wants to work closely with the senior management team and help to drive the business forward.
This candidate would be qualified with CIMA, ACCA or ACA or qualified by experience with good regulatory and statutory accounting skills. Excellent communication with a strong commercial awareness of what is going on around the world that may impact the business.
