Our client is a growing Manufacturing business based on the outskirts of York. They are looking to recruit for a Finance Manager to join them in a newly created position.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be preparing the monthly management accounts, analysing and posting journals of accruals and prepayments, processing the profit and loss and balance sheet reports as well as cash flow forecasting and processing all VAT returns.

You will also need to create an aged debtor report to review any potential bad debts and the bad debt provision. Reconciling work between the aged debtors, the accounting system aged debt and the debtors’ control as well as managing the creditors ledger review and resolution of aged items and debit balances.


Managing a small accounts team, you will also be required to take responsibility for overseeing the payroll function and all statutory correspondence and payments to HMRC, looking at cost and variance analysis and suggesting any actions to be taken, managing the financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems as well as producing accurate financial reports.

That’s why we are looking for a Finance Manager who has worked in a similar role from within the manufacturing / engineering / construction or distribution industries or similar. Someone who has experience of family run businesses, leading them through a period of growth with the ability to set up new systems and procedures, as well as getting involved in all aspects of accounting from the ground up.


As you would be creating and analysing a variety of reports for the management team, strong experience with MS Excel is essential with the attention to detail to match. Previous experience of Sage is advantageous.

We are very flexible at looking for a candidate who is either fully qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA etc), part qualified or qualified by experience. For this role we are looking at what you can bring to the business and the skills and experience you have had before.

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, there is car parking available, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, laptop and mobile phone.
